What would normal people do at 7pm on a Saturday evening in Winter? Go to the pub? Cosy up at home? Well, not for seven mad fools from NDRR's - there was Beer involved though, but Beer in South Devon which was the location for a brand new night race hosted by Axe Valley Runners, described as "Eight miles of nocturnal fun in Grizzly territory, complete with mud, ford and beach".
The terrain included lanes, tracks and paths many steep, stony, very slippery and narrow, woods, plus a nasty cattle grid which nearly caught us out at the bottom of a steep lane and of course the dreaded clifftops. At about mile six it was a hard slog along the pebble beach before the grueling steep ascent, (which with jelly legs and a shear drop was a lethal combination really!), then it was back along the headland to the finish. This was a very well organised first event and well marshalled under the circumstances.
98 Runners Overall - The winning time 00:57:53, last time 02:15:03 (Due to Will Sherlock's impressive time he is currently undergoing a dope test for Carrot Juice!).
