Competition: 4 Trigs Race Date: 7th Feb 2010 Distance: 16m

On Sunday 7th Feb eight members of NDRR went to Sidmouth for the 4 Trigs race. The race is 16 miles long and visits each of the 4 triangulation markers on the high ground to the West, North and East of the town.  The route is largely on muddy footpaths and tracks. It is self navigated from a map or as Will and Simon did, follow some locals who know their way around. We followed Gary Perratt from Axe Valley Runners who had already done the whole route earlier in the day and was now tired enough for us to keep up with!

There were 92 finishers in all and the winning time was approx 2.35.  The hills were awfully steep both up and down.  The first NDRR position was fiercely contested all the way through with the lead swapping between Will and Simon throughout the last 2 miles. Will would gain on the level whilst Simon would catch up on the hills. A sprint finish took place at the end of the final slope and although the results suggest a draw I think Will won by a gnats whisker! Mark Lester lost his 3rd position to Carl towards the end of the race because he didn't know which way up to hold his map!
