John Shapland competed in the British Masters 10k Road Race, a two lap race around Exmouth. On a very hot day he completed the course in 36.12 to finish 37th overall, and as the race incorporated the South West Veteran championships took the South West Gold Medal for his age category just missing out on a medal in the British Masters finishing 4th in his age category
