John Shapland competed in a one hour track race at the South West Vets Track & Field Championships held at Exeter Arena and

 set a new British Masters V58 record completing  16267 metres (or just over 40.5 laps), beating the old record, set in 1997, by 422 metres. The race also incorporated the South West Vets 10k championship which he was timed at 36.26 to take the Ov55 Gold Medal.

John would like to thank Jan Gould for her advice and massages to get him fit enough for this race after an injury scare last week.
