At 4.00 am on Sunday 22nd May, Simon Oliver and Andy Mansfield set off for deepest Dorset to take part in the Wessex Ridgeway 100k (62 mile?) relay race.

The race started at 7.30 am near Shaftesbury and wound its way over hill and dale to finish near Lyme Regis. The route is a mixture of tracks, fields, quite roads and footpaths. The course was divided into 12 stage lengths of between 4 and 10 miles.

Most teams were either 4 or 6 members but we entered as a team of 2.

We finished in 20 place out of 24 teams in 11.13 hours. Simon covered 35 miles and Andy 33 miles. The conditions on the day were sunny but with a strong headwind blowing all day.

Anyone for next years event? 2 teams of 3 perhaps?
