NDRR dominate Braunton 10
There were record entries as North Devon Road Runners hosted the Braunton 10 on Sunday.
267 runners completed the ten-mile road race as NDRR took both the senior men’s and women’s team prizes.
The club also boasted first and second place in the overall race as Shaun Antell lead from start to finish to win from team-mate Ronnie Richmond.
Antell, who also runs for Bristol & West AC ran 54mins 21secs taking 62 seconds off his personal best that he set in the 2010 Bideford 10 Miler.
Ronnie Richmond improved on his fifth place from last year taking second place in 58.59 after a long battle with North Devon AC’s Jack Hutchens.
Hutchens, who would be more used to shorter races on the track proved he was ready for the step up to the longer road race. The 19-year-old clocked 59.22 in claiming third place.
In the women’s race Helen Dyke of Poole Runners stole the show, winning in 63.47.
Magdalen Miller of North Devon Road Runners was second in 66.28 with North Devon Triathlete Rosemary Terribile third in 68.19.
Shapland Reserve For England in Glasgow
John Shapland was selected as a reserve for the V55 England team at the English and Irish Cross Country International on Saturday.
Shapland ran in the open race at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, clocking 23mins 57secs for 16th place overall.
Shapland at it Again
John Shapland came eighth in the Ilminster Lions 10k on Sunday, running 37.09 to win the over 55 category.
Vet Prize For Shapland
John Shapland finished fourth in the Tavy 7 on Sunday, winning the over 55 category.
The North Devon Road Runner fought the windy conditions to run 42mins 38secs along the seven mile course.

Paddon in Debut Marathon
Simon Paddon tackled the Dartmoor Vale Marathon on Sunday.
Simon ran an inspirational 4hrs 39mins 5secs in his first attempt at the distance.
It's a two lap course starting and finishing in the Newton Abbot Racecourse. There are two hills around the 11 and 22 mile stages.
On the same day there was also a Half Marathon and 10k race.
Luckily we had no representatives in 10k (leaders were sent off course) but we did have a runner in the half.
Dave Joyce ran the first lap of the marathon course in 1:54.57.
Three Road Runners Take on Cardiff
Ross Macdonald led home a trio of North Devon Road Runners at the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday.
Ross, fresh from his victory in the Survival of the Fittest ran 1hr 21mins 47secs.
Suzanne White made an impressive improvement on her Bristol Half Marathon time from last month. She ran 1:59.56 to take off just over two minutes.
Not far behind was Sue Squire who ran 2:03.39 through Wale's largest city.
North Devon Involved at Bristol Half
Simon Paddon and Suzanne White represented North Devon Road Runners the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday.
Simon ended up finishing in 1hr 53mins 49secs with Suzanne coming home in 2:02.10.
The race was won by Kenyan Edwin Kipyego who led from gun to tape to retain his title in 63.20.
Gemma Steele of Charnwood claimed the women's title in 73.32.
Road Runners Tackle Back in Five
While many of North Devon Road Runners were in Ilfracombe doing/watching the triathlon, there were five club members who took to Torrington.
Ronnie Richmond was the quickest Road Runner in the Back in Five. Last years' runner-up was fourth in 29mins 51secs.
In ninth place overall and fourth male vet was Andy Woolacott in 32.23. This was a big improvement on last years' time of 35.38.
First placed female for the Road Runners and winner of the female vet category was Vicky Skelton. Her time of 35.27 gave her 18th overall.
Michael Gammon finished in 37.42 with Tony Dyer coming home in 52.29.
Shapland Second Vet in Langport
John Shapland was the first across the line for North Devon Road Runners in the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k.
His time of 35mins 48secs was under his target of 36 minutes, which gave him second in the over 50s category. This was just 16 seconds behind Bideford's Peter Hockin.
Mike Davey smashed his personal best on the fast course in Somerset. His time of 48.07 meant he knocked over a minute and a half off his previous best.
Another personal best came from our lone female representative Claire Foulds, who ran in a time of 52.16.
The other two Road Runners to run were Alan Nicol and Peter Kneil. Alan's time of 45.42 was 36 seconds quicker than he ran in the Bideford 10k earlier this year. Peter also showed big improvement taking 5 minutes and 28 seconds off his Arlington 10k time, clocking 51.17.
I also clocked a new personal best (running for Bristol & West) coming second in 31.54.
Good Turn Out For Road Runners at Torbay 10k
North Devon Road Runners were the only local club to head south for the Torbay 10k on Sunday.
No less than seven Road Runners crossed the finish line on a warm summers evening along the English Riviera.
Micheal Ayre was the first Road Runner home in an impressive 16th place. His time of 37.23 was a new personal best beating his previous best of 37.25 by two seconds.
The other Road Runners to compete were: Sammy Stevenson 47.22; Valentin Bumbul 48.12; Jim Mouat 50.34; Brian Mulholland 51.18; Joyce Mulholland 1:08.16; Margaret Beades 1:15.03.
